In a peaceful glade in the forest above the village of Rožanec, a relief from the 3rd century A.D. depicting the Persian sun god Mithras killing a bull is carved into a rock face. It is interesting that the relief has survived until today in its natural surrounding. On the slope above this Mithraic temple site stands the unusual church of Sv. Jurij (St. George), symbolizing the victory of Christianity over paganism. You can also visit the Mithraic temple site with a knowledgeable guide.
