| DOLENJSKA PILGRIMAGE

Slovenia doesn't have big cathedrals : but it does
have churches, which are real jewels and which decorate
almost every hill of this small country. Arrival to
Škocjan and sightseeing of the pilgrimage church of
Saint Mary in Stopno.
Drive to Mokronog and ascending to žalostna gora. Visit
to church of Sad Mother of God with sacred stairs, which
are decorated with frescoes of the life of Mary. We
will continue to one of the most beautiful gothic churches
in Slovenia - that of St. Rupert in Šentrupert.
Nearby is the church on Vesela gora, where we can climb
on picturesque Križeva pota. Visit to a pilgrimage church
of St. Francis Xavier from the 18th century. It has
paintings made by Fortunat Bergant, Valentin Metzinger
and Anton Tušek, which were famous Slovene painters.
Short stop in Trebnje, visit to a gallery of naive artists.
Lunch, then drive to Zaplaz and visit the famous pilgrimage
two-towered church.
