The Tršarjeva Homestead houses the village
museum and the Laze Gallery. Along with images of Planinsko
polje, objects from the everyday life of the local people
are exhibited in the museum, and there is a particularly interesting
collection of butterflies from Planinsko polje. Here also
is a ceramics workshop where Nataša Prestor produces small
earthenware sculptures inspired by the Slovene folk tradition
and forms of folk decoration.

The picturesque, six-kilometer valley
of Rakov Škocjan was formed as the roof of an underground
passage collapsed, which is vividly illustrated by the Mali
(Small) and Veliki (Great) natural bridges. At the beginning
of the valley, the karst Rak and Ljubljanica rivers spring
from the Zelške caves, and down the valley along the forest
slopes lead the speleologist transversal, a riding trail,
and the Forestry and Natural Science Education Trail. The
area has been protected as a landscape park since 1949.
