The Church of Sv. Urh in Maršiči originated
in the Middle Ages and was renovated in the Baroque period.
It is decorated with 16th-century frescoes by the so-called
"Croatian painters" painted in a colourful and anecdotal
folk style. The very unusual allegory, a fresco of a pilgrim
fox carrying a stolen goose in a bag, is surrounded by the
insignia of church dignitaries, is an intriguing interweaving
of Reformation ideals and folk humour.

The ancient medieval core of Ribnica
developed beside the castle between the Bistrica stream and
today's main street, Škrabčev trg ("Skrabec Square").
Standing on the main square are the beautifully renovated
and remarkable Miklova, Štekličkova, and Oničeva houses and
the Parish Church of Sv. Štefan with bell towers designed
by the architect Jože Plečnik. The castle complex today houses
the Museum of Woodenware and Pottery. The castle walls enclose
a park dedicated to eminent historical figures of the Ribnica
Valley.
