Logatec, Church of the Three Kings
Located in a high valley, Logatec has two centres:
the old town of Gorenji Logatec and more recent Dolenji Logatec
where the centre of town was moved after the construction of the
railway. There is an early 17th century castle, and the town's three
churches were already established by the early 16th century. An
unusual covered well may be seen below the Church of St. Joseph
at Čevica. On the opposite side of the main road, the present Church
of St. Nicholas dates from the late 18th century and is at the centre
of an attractive ensemble of buildings including a very well preserved
barn.
The magnificently located Church of the Three Kings, north of Logatec,
is built on the crest of a hill with a dramatic mountain background.
From this commanding position, there are superb 360-degree views
of the countryside. The white-painted church with its crowned tower
is Gothic in origin, renovated in the Baroque style in the late
17th century. The church is adorned with ornate Baroque altars and
marble statues.
