C11 - ALONG VINEYARDS AND FOREST TRAILS

TŠmarješke Toplice - Žaloviče - Koglo - Štatenberk - Trebelno - Mokronog

Trail length: 23 km.

The medium-difficult route runs from Šmarješke Toplice to the peaceful Radulja valley, ascends to Trebelno to the St. Peter archaeological trail and then to the pilgrimage complex on Žalostna gora above Mokronog.

Most suitable time to visit: warm half of the year

This trail is included in the packages HTN 10, 14, 15, 17

From Šmarješke Toplice, we will ride past the Šmarješke Toplice Health Resort towards Gorenja vas. At the  Plague Monument  we will turn towards Zalovice. We will see the percolations of smaller underground streams behind the village. We will then continue towards Koglo. At the crossroads, we will turn left onto the macadam path, which descends into the Radulja valley  and to the mill. We will ride along the forest trail  along  the right bank of the Radulja River. We will cross the bridge across the Lipovka stream and ride straight past the Hmeljnik sawmill. Once we have crossed the bridge across the Radulja River, we will continue along the left bank and turn left at the crossroads towards Roje pri Trebelnem. In Štatenberk, we can visit the agricultural museum and then continue our trip towards Udna vas. In Črešnjevci we can take a break and then continue, ascending to  Trebelno  A beautiful view of the surroundings is located at the  Church of St. Cross . This will be followed by a descent towards Gorenji Mokronog.  The Church of St. Peter  and an ossuary are situated alongside the trail on a gentle rise. From Gorenji Mokronog, we will ride towards Žalostna gora and Mokronog. Here we can visit the old market town, defence tower and ruins of the Mokronog Castle.
