C3 - TRAIL FROM DOLENJSKA TO BELA KRAJINA

Dolenjske Toplice  - Visoki Rog - Mirna Gora - Črnomelj

Trail length: 49.3 km.

 

Extremely demanding route which ascends from Dolenjske Toplice past Base 20 to Mirna Gora which affords a beautiful panorama of the entire area of Bela krajina and then to Kvarner.

SCHEMATIC MAP

From Dolenjske Toplice we will ride along an asphalt road towards Poturn. At the crossroads where the road connects to the Soteska-Črmošnjica road, we will turn right and around the source of the Radeščica River. At the end of the Poturn village, we will turn left at the turning for Base 20. One hundred metres further on, we will ride along the Rožek forest learning trail and continue our ride to Base 20. After a little less than a kilometre, we will ride past the road shaft which protects the Pihalnik precipice. We will continue our ride up the slope to the parking lot in front of the Lukov Dom. Here we can watch a short film about Base 20 and set off on a guided tour of the preserved huts and equipment.

We will continue along a macadam road towards Kočevje. Along the route, we can stop at the cemetary of postwar killings on the Rogarski klanci. Our trip will continue to the Rog sawmill where we will turn left to Mirna gora and Črmošnjica. Then we will continue along the forest road and follow the signs for Resa where there is a clearing for sports activities and picnics. From Resa, we will ride in the direction of the former village Ribnik  and continue along the forest road along Ribnik and the cometary of the partisan Vinica Hospital.  We will then continue southwards and turn left at the smaller karstic plain Ponikva. Here we will turn right and ascend towards the mountain lodge on Mirna gora. We can rest here and then ascend to the outlook tower, then descend towards Planina. In Planina we will turn right and descend towards Rožič Vrh, Svibnik and Črnomelj.
