C7 - IN SEARCH OF THE MYSTERIES OF THE KOČEVJE FORESTS

Ribnica - Kočevje - Livold - Mozelj - Predgrad - Dobliče - Črnomelj

Trail length: 69.8 km.

Medium-difficult trail running through Kočevje where we will view several cultural sights.  The entire trail is peaceful and runs entirely through the forest. At Jelenja vas we will take a break alongside the marsh and in Predgrad alongside the libellous pillar.

Most suitable time to visit: warm half of the year.

SCHEMATIC MAP

Following a visit to Ribnica we will ride past the Ribnica Castle towards the Ugar Equestrian Centre. We will cross a bridge spanning the Ribnica River, and then turn left onto the macadam road and ride along the right bank of the river to Prigorica and Dolenja vas. From Dolenja vas we will ride southwards to the village Blato, where the karst Rakitnica springs are located. We will turn left in the village and ride along the Rakitnica River, turning onto the Ribnica - Kočevje regional road and then turning right towards Gornje Ložine. Here we can view the dry right bank of the Rinža underground stream which is filled only during prolonged periods of rain. From Ložin we will continue along the regional road. We will turn right towards Slovenska vas, where the source of the Rinža River is located or continue onwards to Kočevje. Following a visit to Kočevje we will continue towards Livold where we will turn left onto the Livold-Predgrad regional road. We will cycle past Mozelj to Rajndol, and then turn left towards Knežja Lipa. this is followed by a short ascent to Brezovica pri Predgradu, and then a descent to Poljanska Valley towards Predgrad. Here we can take a rest and view the Medieval pillory. We will then continue our trip towards Stari trg on the Kolpa River where we will turn left onto the Stari-trg - Črnomelj road, along which we will descend via Poljanska gora to Bela krajina. We will cycle past the viniferous Tanča gora to Doblič, where we will turn right towards Črnomelj.
