C8 - THROUGH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BELA KRAJINA REGIONS

Črnomelj - Lokve - Rožanec - Vinji vrh - izvir Krupe - Gradac - Podzemelj - Primostek - Metlika - Suhor - Jugorje - Gospodična .

Trail length: 61.0 km.

A difficult, but pleasant route through the Bela krajina flatlands with stops in Rožanec (mitre), Church of the Holy Trinity on Vinji vrh , the Krupa River source, Gradec, Podzemlje and Metlika from where we will ascend to Gorjanci.

This trail is included in the packages HTN 06, 09, 12, 14, 15, 17

We will drive northwards  in front of the Črnomelj Castel towards the railway station At the traffic lights we will turn left towards Dolenjske Toplice and Novo mesto. We will ride alongside the railway tracks and turn left towards the village Lovke. Here we can view the Franc Rozman-Stane monument and then continue our trip towards Rožanec.. We will view the remnants of an antique mitre in a small sinkhole and then return to the main road. We will turn right at Ručetna vas towards Semič. After 2 km we will turn right for Brezje pri Vinjem Vrhu and ascend a small slope to Vinji Vrh with the beautiful Church of the Holy Trinity. From Vinji vrh we will descend towards the road for Stranska vas. Here we can either turn left and after a kilometre ride to the source of the Krupa River or turn right  towards Stranska vas pri Semiču and Gradec. The latter was named after the castle at the bend of the Lahinja River. In Gradec we will turn left onto the Črnomelj-Metlika road, and then follow the signs to Krasinec. In Boršt we will turn right towards Boginja vas, and ride through the forest and spur runway of the Prilozje Airfield. We will turn right at Prilozje and at the pond ride along the agricultural path to Krasinec. Here we can take a rest and visit the Church of St. Anthony the Anchoret. We will continue our trip past the nesting area of storks in Podzemlje, cross the Črnomelj-Metlika road and continue on towards Geršiči. We will cycle across the Lahinja River and turn right in Geršiči towards Krivoglavice, where we can view the abandoned mill on the Lahinja River. In Primostek we will turn left onto the road leading to Metlika. We can spend the night in Metlika and visit the old town centre or continue on through the crossroads towards Krvavci vrh. Here an ascent begins towards Gorjanci. We will ride past Gornja Lokvica, Dragomlja vas, Suhor, Ravnace and Jugorje to the Vahta Pass. Here we will turn right onto the macadam path which leads to Gospodična.
