C9 - THROUGH THE ŠENTJERNEJ FIELDS AND MEADOWS

Gospodična - Vrhovo - Hrastje - Tolsti vrh - Ratež - Gornje Gradišče - Dolenje Vrhpolje - Šentjernej 

Trail length: 33.6 km.
 

Interesting descent into the forested Gorjanci Hills to Minutnik spring and Gracar Tower, and then among vineyards to the Šentjernej plain.

SCHEMATIC MAP

From Gospodična we will ride along the macadam path towards Miklavž. At the Bloody Stone we can continue to Miklavž or turn left towards Gabrje. After about 3 km we will rive at a crossroad and turn right into the Pendirjevka Valley. The interesting Minutnik spring is located on the left bank of the Pendirjevka stream, having received its name from the changing water flux. We will continue our ride past the quarry and turn left towards Vrhovo Castle. We will ride straight through Hrastje to the Gracar Tower. After 200 m we will turn left towards Tolsti vrh and descend to the Brusničice Valley. We will turn right at Ratež towards Morkro Polje. At Gorenje Gradišče we will turn right onto an agricultural path running to Loka and Gorenje Stara vas. This will be followed by a shorter ascent to Rajndol and descent  to Vrhpolje. In Vrhpolje we will turn left towards Šmarje. Here we can either turn right towards the Carthusian Charterhouse or turn left towards our destination, Šentjernej.
