H10 - ALONG THE USKOK TRAILS

 

Metlika - Bušinja vas - Trdinov vrh - Gospodična
Trail length: 23.9 km.

 

The route from Metlika to the peak of the Gorjanci hills (1170 m) is suitable for more seasoned hikers. The route ascends through forests on the southern slopes of the Gorjanci hills to the highest point Trdinov vrh (1178 m), afterwards descending to the Gospodična spring, which will return your energy and youth.

Most suitable time to visit: warm half of the year

SCHEMATIC MAP

Following a visit to the old Metlika town centre, we will turn onto the macadam path which will lead us to Berčice. We will continue on through Berčice to Grabrovec where we can view the Church of St. Urban, and then continue our trip towards Grabrovec. Here we will turn onto the footpath, cross the wooden bridge in the forest and hike through the fields to the village Brusnice. Here we will turn right and continue along the slopes of Mali and Veliki vrh towards Gorjanci. After a good hour’s hike, we will arrive on a forest road and connect with an alpine footpath on the Gorjanci hills which leads to Jugorje. We will near the state border in spots, but not cross it. Once we arrive at the Vahta-Gospodična road, we will turn right. We can freshen up here at Jordan’s Well , and then continue our ascend towards Trdinov vrh. We can climb up the 15 m high outlook tower and stop at the renovated Churches of St. Jera and St. Elija. Afterwards we will descend along the forest road to Gospodična.
