H11 - ALONG THE TRAILS OF MONKS
Gospodična
- Miklavž - Javorovica - Pleterje - Šmarje - Šentjernej
Trail length: 18.5 km.
The trail will take us through the ridges of the Gorjanci hills.
Wonderful vistas open up along the forest trail from Gospodična and
Miklavž to Javorovica. The Carthusian Charterhouse and Pleterje
outdoor museum (for groups) are well worth a visit.

At Gospodična we will
turn onto the footpath which leads to the Gregorjev spring and Bloody
Stone. Here we will turn left towards Miklavž, where we can rest and
then set off along the footpath to the remnants of the Gorjanci Lake.
Here we will turn left and ascend to the Ravna gora crest along the
macadam trail. Scenic views of Bela Krajina and the Šentjernej plain
open up along the way. Afterwards, we hike along the state border to
the Japetova grasslands where we will begin our descent towards
Javorovica. We can either take a break here overnight or descend to
the Globoka Stream valley where the Carthusian Charterhouse and the
Pleterje outdoor museum are located. Following the visit, we will
continue past Šmarje towards Šentjernej.
