H13 - ALONG THE TRAIL FROM ŠMARJETA TO MOKRONOG

 

Šmarješke Toplice - Šmarjeta - Klevevž - Pule - Mokronog

Trail length:  18.7 km.

 

The area of Klevevž with its thermal spring source, karst caves  right under the former castle are especially interesting. The prominent Pule Estate is located right next to the former Čretež Castle from where we will ascend via the Laknica Valley to the pilgrimage complex of Žalostna gora above Mokronog.

Most suitable time to visit: warm half of the year

SCHEMATIC MAP

We will set off from Šmarjeske Toplice along the agricultural path through Brezovica, Kamni Vrh, Gorenja vas pri Šmarjeti and Radovlja to the source of the Klevevž thermal springs and the ruins of Klevevž Castle. Following the visit, we will ascend among the orchards to Čelevec and continue onwards towards Čretež and Pule, then descend to the Laknica Valley. From here we will ascend along the viciferous slope of Priča where the villa of the former Mokronog industrialist Savel Kalin is situated. From Priča we will hike towards Žalostna gora and Mokronog.
